As if we hadn't said it enough the eighties are back! Rave culture, perspex jewellery and wetlook leggings are all here to stay. Topshop is aimed at teenagers, who are too young to remember this era (in all fairness so am I). Sweetheart necklined dresses were layered over grungy black, long sleeve tees. it was all about rebellion and putting unusual layers together. There were some great tasselled style, mohair dresses in electric shades of blue and plenty of grungy teen blacks, washed out whites and grey.
Strong shoulders and androgynous trench coats added that tomboy element, while styling saw heaps of plastic, statement neck pieces and vastly over sized, knitted, scarves.
Prints were influenced by 'futurism' and were inspired by crop circles and space ships, topped off with flashes of metallic.
It was quite a cool collection, but at the end of the day it's Topshop, so it will surely fly!
