Greetings, my dears: After sorting out a few technical issues, I'm back. Let's see how some big-screen stars sorted out weather problems (read: the Sunday downpour) as they tried looking their best on the Royal Opera House red carpet.
Ay caramba. Kate Winslet says she's getting more comfortable with her curves as she ages, and this second-skin Zac Posen looks pretty comfy itself. Just right or too tight?
I'm thankful for Slumdog Millionaire for two reasons: 1) It gave me something to talk about when I awkwardly ran into a guy I used to date at a movie screening, and (2) it brought Freida Pinto to the red carpet. Do you agree she looks smashing in Oscar de la Renta?
Oh, and Dev Patel is in Aquascutum, as if you were looking at him.
Penelope Cruz. Azzedine Alaia. Perfect match. Yes?
Amy Adams ticks the boxes for perfect colour and perfect fit in RM by Roland Mouret. Fishtail skirts are everywhere, and hopefully they'll stick around for the Oscars.
Kristin Scott Thomas mixes goth with a jewel tone in her strapless YSL gown. It's sweet and unexpected, but maybe the wrap could go.
Emily Mortimer also went with YSL for the awards ceremony. Does her dove-grey tiered number do it for you? I'm loving the black bow and unusual sleeves.
Love Armani Prive, not sure about Angie wearing it. Perhaps a bit like a bee?
My friend went to the Mamma Mia! premiere party this summer and ended up dancing with Amanda Seyfried most of the night because Meryl Streep's 9,778,859,493,227 security workers had her pretty much blocked away from the peons. It seems she also takes no risk with a silly thing like rain. Thoughts on the full-length black trench?
I want to like Gemma Arterton in vintage Christian Dior but keep wondering why her belly has a tail. No offense.
I loved the silver Gaultier mermaid gown Marion Cotillard won when she accepted her Oscar last year and give her an A for effort in Christian Dior. Come on, people, she's getting soaked to give you paparazzi shots!
I'll leave you with one to debate - Thandie Newton in vintage. I'm liking it since she kept everything else simple, but it took me off guard at a major awards ceremony. Last word on stripes: like, or yikes?
